LG Urbane 2 : LTE and Android Wear form LG
The second edition of the LG Urban SmartWatch is unveiled. The first Wear Smartwatch with integrated LTE.
LG has withdrawn its Urbane 2 SmartWatch from the market because, according to the official statement, adding a hardware component never used before on a wearable could have caused problems with the display image quality and preferred to stop the sales. No concern from the software side for all other LG wearables.
These days LG has unveiled its new second-generation smartwatch, the Urbane 2nd Edition watch. Like the first model, it has a circular display, but unlike the previous model, the new device combines the features of Android Wear with mobile connectivity – it is now possible to leave the smartphone at home by having a 3G, 4G Bluetooth or Wifi To your wrist.
The use of a mobile connection allows the new Urbane 2 to greatly improve user experience: instant sharing of its Facebook and social sports statistics, greater detection accuracy, but above all the ability to unlock all of our online application settings.
The smartwatch can also run on its own with a proprietary operating system, already seen in the first version of the LG Urban – the ability to support Android Wear opens up access to many applications ready to be used with a connection even when Wifi or smartphone, they are not in the neighborhood.
Let’s look at the technical specifications: Behind a 1.38-inch P-OLED screen with a resolution of 480 × 480, there is a 570mAh battery, which according to LG’s statements can last all day, with the help of An energy-saving mode. There is still no news on the price or exact date of exit but in the USA, it is already a matter of days.
The clock does not necessarily need a SIM card, and you can also pair with a bluetooth headset to have more privacy during calls and conversations through the smartwatch. It is naturally synchronized with Android phones and is compatible with iPhone (iOS devices) but in this case, we will have fewer functionalities available. LG has also guaranteed that its watch will be IP67 certified and will also be waterproof and dust-proof. As usual, there is an integrated GPS, barometer, altimeter and accelerometer.
Some designate the new LG Urban 2 as the first real rival of the Apple Watch but with more battery life, only time will tell which of the two wearers best resisted consumer testing. We at Smartwatch Pro had already tested the first version of the LG Urban, which has been released relatively recently, and we are looking forward to testing the second edition of Urban.
