Design and Construction

Inspired by the Sony SmartWatch 3 leaf design, the Moto 360 Sport is built into a single silicone frame, both for the case and for the band. We are very happy with this choice because the design is compact, solid but comfortable.

The strap features a special UV coating to repel sweat. The Moto watch also features an air intake on the side of the chest to keep the wrist even cooler and dry during the workouts.

The watch case, where the display is embedded, is slightly thicker than the size of the new Moto 360 Sport (11.4 mm), but we are always talking about millimeters. The worn device will be available in several colors, including white, black and orange.

Display

Much of Motorola’s sponsorship for this wearable has focused on the display and its incredible features by the manufacturer. Motorola claims it is a unique screen and is the first in the world with regard to its hybrid technology.

Nicknamed ” AnyLight “, the LCD is naturally a reactive screen under outdoor conditions, which means it should look well backlit in low light situations but be readily readable due to reflective technology under full sun conditions. The screen is a 1.37 ” display with a maximum resolution of 360 × 326 to 263 ppi – in the light of these great specifications we can observe how smartwatch technology is now reaching giant smartphone technology.

The display is protected by additional Gorilla Glass 3 protection to prevent chips or breaks on the screen. Already tested successfully on many smartphones and tablets, Gorilla Glass protection is a guarantee that often avoids spending money for additional plastic covers for the screen.

GPS, Racing and Training

The big news is that finally, Sony SmartWatch 3 has a worthy opponent when we talk about Android Wear smartwatches with integrated GPS. (The 360 Sport bike also has a heart rate monitor).

Including in the Sport of the Moto version of a GPS system allows all athletes to track their paths accurately as well as the ability to use a large number of apps and applications to improve their jogging and fitness experience without having to take the smartphone When we go out to go running. These are just some of the available apps that we can make the most out of the Moto 360 Sport GPS: RunKeeper, RunTastic, RunMeter, Nike App ..

Running, distance, calories burned, and other parameters are measured and recorded using the integrated software in the Motorola watch body. Of course, you can also miss the steps count, travel speed, and height with the additional accelerometer.

The final inclusion of an optical heart-rate monitor such as the one installed in the FitBit Surge allows users to monitor heartbeats in addition to obtaining a much more accurate count of burnt calories.

Hardware and Software

Using the latest version of Android Wear, the new 360 Sport is of course compatible with Android smartphones, but thanks to the clever Google strategy, we could use the Motorola watch also iPphone. Motorola has also launched a new feature for Android Wear, unique to the Moto 360 collection, which allows users to individually customize the dials in the home screen of the watch.

Both the Sport version and the classic version of the Moto 360 sport have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, which, according to the company, will improve performance and battery life. The Moto 360 sport can be wet, it has the IP67 certification that guarantees its water resistance for thirty minutes to a depth of one meter – some winter pie or several showers do not scare our new sports companion. With 4GB of memory, there is space on board for a lot of music, which can easily be played through bluetooth headphones.
